TARANTINO DECLARES HIMSELF AS HONEST IDOL JUDGE


Hollywood film-maker QUENTIN TARANTINO considers himself best celebrity judge to have appeared on talent show AMERICAN IDOL - because he actually told the truth.
The KILL BILL director sat alongside regular judges SIMON COWELL, PAULA ABDUL and RANDY JACKSON last week (ends16APR04) to critique the performances of singing hopefuls, and he`s proud of his own performance.
He says, "I started watching the show in the second season. And by in large, I hated the celebrity judges. I got the impression they were just doing a gig, they had never the show.
"I`m watching it and everything and they come on they go, `Oh yeah, you were very lovely child.` And I was like, `Man, when I go on this show, I`m gonna tell the truth!`
"It was about being honest and the whole thing about it was that it`s tougher than it looks because it`s one thing to say that in your living room to your TV screen, it`s another thing to sit out there and look at them.
"I like the show and I love the contestants on it and everything, but I watch it for Simon. I think he`s the man. It`s tough for him to do it too, I`m sure - well, maybe not so tough for him! But being honest, that`s th e way to go with it.
"The ROLLING STONE COVER? Who cares! SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE? Who cares! I was a judge on American Idol!"

QUENTIN`S FOUL MOUTH TURNS IDOL BLUE


QUENTIN TARANTINO was reprimanded by producers of hit TV talent show AMERICAN IDOL on Tuesday night (13APR04) - when he used a swear word to describe his thoughts about a contestant.
Red-faced TV bosses had to reshoot guest judge Tarantino`s reaction to singer LATOYA LONDON`s performance so the show didn`t feature his expletive when it aired last night (14APR04).
The usually live telecast was cancelled at the last minute when chiefs at FOX TV decided to air a live broadcast by President GEORGE W BUSH`s instead.
Regular judge PAULA ABDUL says, "He said `I have three words for you
LaToya: F***ing power house.`
"When we were done, they said, `It`s a wrap. Everybody leave,` and we took our microphones off and said goodbye to the audience, and we`re all leaving and
then: `Everyone back to your seats.`
"We all thought it was ridiculous. Even the parents were booing. Quentin thought it was hysterical."

ARSENIO HALL CAUGHT IN PATERNITY BATTLE


COMING TO AMERICA actor ARSENIO HALL is being sued for paternity and child
support by his former personal manager.
Sources tell American TV news show CELEBRITY JUSTICE that the former chat
show host has never denied being the father to CHERYL BONACCI`s
five-year-old son, but he is contesting the amount of cash he is expected to
pay in child support.
At his peak, Hall, ex-boyfriend of PAULA ABDUL, was one of America`s top
entertainers, earning nearly $12 million (GBP 6.3 million) a year - but the
star says that`s all in the past and any child support should be based on
his present earnings.
Bonacci instead maintains Hall`s past income should be considered.
Sources also claim the 49-year-old is asking for a temporary restraining
order and is alleging Bonacci has interfered with his custodial rights.
Lawyers for both sides have declined to comment on the case.

JANET BEARS A BREAST AGAIN!


JANET JACKSON did it again - she flashed a boob on last night`s (10APR04) SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, but this time she was doing it for laughs and it was covered up.
Poking fun at America`s National Security Advisor DR CONDOLEEZA RICE in a skit about last week`s (ends09APR04) testimony on the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the show, Jackson ripped open her blouse to reveal a flesh-coloured bra.
Janet, as Condoleeza, was advised to "flash a boob" if she got nervous under questioning in a pre-testimony pep talk with American Vice President DICK CHENEY, played by SNL regular DARRELL HAMMOND.
To Cheney`s suggestion she show "one headlight, real quick," Janet`s Dr Rice insisted it wasn`t the right forum, adding, "It`s not like paid television or national sporting championships," poking fun at her breast-baring controversy at the SUPER BOWL in February (04).
Then, in her monologue at the beginning of the show, Jackson continued to show off her comedy touch by joking, "Did anybody happen to see the Super Bowl?"
And there were more jokes about her breast-popping shocker - in a skit where she joked around with a fake home movie, she showed a supposed shot of herself as a kid in the pool with a snapped bikini strap.
Jackson jokingly called the bikini incident "a swimsuit malfunction".
The pop superstar also impressed as a Texas squirrel handler, PAULA ABDUL, a tourist in Italy, a 70s party hostess, a star of beloved American sitcom GOOD TIMES and one of her own delirious fans on SNL.

Pop legend SIR ELTON JOHN stunned the stars of AMERICAN IDOL yesterday
(06APR04) by turning up unannounced to judge them singing his tunes.
The British rocker watched wannabes singing his hits like CROCODILE ROCK and I`M STILL STANDING and then gave his verdict as a surprise guest judge.
Fellow judge PAULA ABDUL says, "He stepped onto the soundstage and I think they were ready to drop."

WILLIAM HUNG A VIRGIN


AMERICAN IDOL reject WILLIAM HUNG has declared he`s a virgin.
The 21-year-old Hong Kong native rose to prominence when he had Idol judges SIMON COWELL, RANDY JACKSON and PAULA ABDUL in fits of giggles as he danced and sang his way through a terrible version of RICKY MARTIN`s hit track SHE BANGS.
But while he`s embarking on a new career in music - despite failing to make it through the first round Hung has now released album THE TRUE IDOL for KOCH RECORDS - he`s still waiting to lose his virginity.
He says, "I`m just looking for the right person. As long as I love her and she loves me and we love each other for who we are and she`s a good person."

AMERICAN IDOL judge SIMON COWELL has paid colleague PAULA ABDUL the ultimate compliment - saying she`s sexier than MADONNA, BEYONCE and PINK.
The sharp-tongued music mogul says he can tell how wild a woman will be in the bedroom by studying their face, and believes Abdul has a very "naughty"
side.
Simon enthuses, "Normally you can tell what somebody will be like sexually by her facial expressions, you know?
"Paula`s actually got a very naughty face. I think she is quite sexy."
And Cowell - who is dating English TV presenter TERRI SEYMOUR - admits he did spend time fantasising about Abdul, adding, "but then I got to know her."

MANILOW BOWS OUT OF JUDGING DUTIES ON AMERICAN IDOL


BARRY MANILOW turned down the opportunity to judge the current finalists on AMERICAN IDOL, because he couldn`t bear the thought of crushing the dreams of young hopefuls.
The MANDY singer will be seen coaching the remaining seven contestants tonight (20APR04), but refused to sit on the panel alongside show regulars SIMON COWELL, PAULA ABDUL and RANDY JACKSON to judge the wannabes.
He says, "I`ve been working with these kids for two weeks now because this judge thing is not for me.
"I have gotten the worst reviews in the whole world for the last 30 years.
I know
what it feels like to be on the other side so I am not about to tell them how lousy they are. That`s not my thing. All I can do is tell them how great they are and maybe get them to be better than they think they can be.
"I got there and I did an extreme makeover of all of my songs just for them, for each one of them. I think they`ve all got their strengths."

Former pop icon PAULA ABDUL is fearful whenever she`s in the presence of a funny person - because she often wets herself when she laughs.
The 41-year-old AMERICAN IDOL judge admits she has a habit of losing control of her bladder whenever she`s amused - and it`s left her with many embarrassing memories.
She tells American magazine TEEN PEOPLE, "When I laugh sometimes, I pee in my pants - in restaurant booths and basketball games.
"One time I was on THE ARSENIO HALL SHOW and I peed on his couch. I`ve known him since I was 17 years old!"

YANKOVIC SLAMS SIMON FOR SOFTENING UP


Parody singer `WEIRD AL` YANKOVIC has slammed SIMON COWELL losing his notorious nasty streak in the latest season of TV talent contest AMERICAN IDOL.
Cowell has returned to the show alongside fellow judges PAULA ABDUL and RANDY JACKSON, but Yankovic admits he`s upset to see how inoffensive the British music mogul`s criticisms have become.
He says, "My biggest disappointment so far is Simon Cowell. He just isn`t as nasty as he used to be.
"I think I speak for the entire American viewing audience when I say that we want to see these contestants slitting their wrists as they`re walking off stage."

Biography
Her father (Harry Abdul) is of Sephardic Jewish background from Syria. Her mother is also Jewish and was born in Canada. Her parents have lived in Syria, Brazil, and Canada - and this varied background has contributed to incredibly different stories in the press about her nationality and/or religion. Daughter of Harry Abdul (once a livestock trader in Brazil) and Lorainne Abdul (former assistant to film director Billy Wilder, grew up in Hollywood, California. Since the age of seven, she sung and danced in community musical theatre groups while traveling around America. She took tap dance lessons as well, in which she was awarded a scholarship to Tap dancing school. Later on in life, she attended Cal State-Northridge College in which she majored in Broadcast radio. During that time, she auditioned for the Los Angeles Lakers NBA Cheerleading team, and that led her to a spot as a cheerleader on the squad earning some $50 a game during her freshman year.

Later on she decided to take up Choreography, working with artists such as the Jacksons and the Rolling Stones. Nowadays, she organises dance camps for young children to come to and have fun during the summer. Paula has won many musical awards, such as a Grammy, 7 MTV video awards, 2 Emmy awards, and 2 People`s Choice Awards. On top of all that she`s had two #1 hit albums and seven #1 hit singles. To add to that she has a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. She has done well for herself, and plans to write/sing/choreograph for as long as she can.
