LAW IN PORTMAN ROMANCE RIDDLE?


British hunk JUDE LAW is reportedly getting close to his CLOSER co-star NATALIE PORTMAN - sparking fears his romance with ALFIE beauty SIENNA MILLER is over.
The COLD MOUNTAIN OSCAR nominee first met Portman on the set of the ANTHONY MINGHELLA-directed civil war drama, while he was going through his split from wife SADIE FROST.
But it wasn`t until the pair teamed up to play lovers in the new drama - which also stars JULIA ROBERTS - that they struck up a close friendship.
A source close to Law tells Britain`s CLOSER magazine, "Jude regularly mixes with big Hollywood names and while Natalie is at ease in those circles, Sienna, a former model, is seen as a comparative lightweight.
"Her only big film role so far has been beside Jude in Alfie."
The actor has reportedly told pals, "Natalie`s like a breath of fresh air and very like me in many ways."
Natalie - who dates Mexican hunk GAEL GARCIA BERNAL - told reporters recently, "Jude Law is gorgeous. I can tell if someone`s really genuine or if they`re nice to you just because you`re an actor."

Portman and Bernal met at an ACADEMY AWARDS after party in March last year

"People ask why I`ve been doing al these films and it`s a case of the good one`s you just can`t turn down."

STAR WARS beauty NATALIE PORTMAN is the frontrunner to play
SUPERMAN`s leading lady LOIS LANE in the upcoming blockbuster, according
to reports in her native America.
The brunette actress has been named as studio WARNER BROTHERS` first
choice to play the intrepid journalist, who is saved from tragedy by her superhero
boyfriend.
When asked if Portman has inked a deal with director RICHARD DONNER - who has replaced CHARLIE`S ANGELS film-maker McG - her agent replied "nothing`s conclusive".
The project has been beset by problems, and actors JUDE LAW and JOSH HARTNETT have both turned down the chance to play the man of steel. BRENDAN FRASER is the latest star to be linked to the role.

Biography
Natalie Portman was born in Jerusalem, Israel to Avner (a fertility specialist) and Shelley (an artist) At the age of three she moved to Washington, but soon relocated to Syosset, New York where she spent the rest of her childhood. At the age of 11 she was spotted by an agent searching for a child model, she used this to start off her acting career. 6 months later at age 12 she won her first role for the critically acclaimed film _Leon (1994)_ directed by Luc Besson. Although the movie was a huge hit it caused her family some problems due to her Lolita role. she then landed supporting roles in Heat (1995), Everyone Says I Love You (1996), Beautiful Girls (1996) and Mars Attacks! (1996). She then concentrated on High School in Syosset where she was a straight A student, she acted only during the summer. Portman became a leading lady when she landed the role of Queen/Senator Amidala for Star wars Episode I, II, and III. this helped her win roles in such films as _Anywhere But Her (1999)_ and Where the Heart Is (2000). Portman has also had a successful stage career appearing in such plays as `Seagull, The` and `The Diary of Anne Frank` She is now in working on her upcoming Film Cold Mountain (2003) and attending Harvard University where she is studying to be a Psychologist. She says that her future in acting will become very selective due to her choice to pursue Psychology as a working career.
