ODD AWARD GETS BRAD ON TRL


BRAD PITT has finally agreed to appear in person on hit American MTV show TRL, after winning an award for never showing up.
The movie hunk has appeared on TRL many times, but never from the Times Square studio in New York - despite constant requests from the show`s producers.
But, after giggling about his Biggest Star To Never Have Appeared on TRL Award via satellite yesterday (13APR04) during the telecast of the second annual TRL AWARDS, Pitt has now confirmed he`ll make his debut on the sh ow on 3 May (04).
The flattered actor said of his award, "This is a great honour. I`ve never been honoured for being undependable and inaccessible in such a way."

Designer for the stars STEFAN GABBANA has launched an astonishing attack on Hollywood beauties CATHERINE ZETA JONES and GWYNETH PALTROW, accusing them of giving fashion a bad name.
Gabbana - one half of design giants DOLCE & GABBANA - rocketed to fame when the duo produced MADONNA`s legendary corsets in the early 90s and for converting KYLIE MINOGUE into a sex symbol.
The feisty Italian attacks seven-month pregnant Paltrow for possessing no style, and continues his assault on Zeta-Jones, whose fashion sense he deems instantly forgettable.

GUY RITCHIE TO MAKE KABBALAH MOVIE


MADONNA`s director husband GUY RITCHIE is making a film about the Jewish-based faith Kabbalah - based on his wife`s religious mentor RABBI YEHUDA BERG`s book THE POWER OF KABBALAH.
The 35-year-old director, who is more at home making violent gangster movies like 2000 hit SNATCH, has already written a foreword to Berg`s book in which he gushes, "this book should come with a warning: Danger Of Enlig htenment."
Kabbalah has captured the attention of many a high-profile celebrities including Hollywood actress DEMI MOORE, living legend ELIZABETH TAYLOR and pop superstar BRITNEY SPEARS.
Rabbi Berg says, "We`re always there for Madonna, we have given her a support system.
"She can get in touch with me any time, or we can send her to a study group, but you don`t have to be Madonna to get this type of attention, anyone can contact me."

BEN AFFLECK has fired back at MADONNA in the pages of ROLLING STONE magazine - after she accused him and ex-girlfriend JENNIFER LOPEZ of courting the "media attention" that led to their split.
The furious JERSEY GIRL actor insists Madonna should have kept her mouth shut because now she looks ridiculous.
He says, "You can probably file that quote in the dictionary of cliches under the heading of pot and kettle.

DE LAURENTIIS BEGGED MADONNA TO RETHINK SEX BOOK


Movie mogul DINO DE LAUTRENTIIS insists MADONNA ruined his movie BODY OF EVIDENCE by releasing her infamous SEX book just before the film`s release.
The Italian producer begged his star to stall the release of her controversial book in 1993 until after the release of her thriller - but the stubborn pop star wouldn`t listen.
De Laurentiis recalls, "I said, `Madonna, you`re making a mistake releasing the book now. Everyone will think it`s a porno movie. Please don`t do it.` But she didn`t want to listen."
De Laurentiis is showing a similar stubbornness with his determination to make his own ALEXANDER THE GREAT movie with director BAZ UHRMANN - even though filming has yet to start and OLIVER STONE`s rival movie about the Macedonian king, starring COLIN FARRELL, is almost complete.
The producer says, "It will be the biggest road movie ever. To me, Alexander is the best story after Christ."
De Laurentiis` film will star LEONARDO DiCAPRIO as the hero and NICOLE KIDMAN as his mother.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG is set to join the ranks of JAMIE LEE CURTIS and MADONNA by becoming a children`s author.
The GHOST star has become a big fan of children`s tales ever since she started reading them to her grandchildren and now she wants to have a crack at writing one.
She says, "If I can give kids and their parents something that`ll make them smile and maybe teaches them a little something about living with one another on our planet, it makes me a happy granny."

BRITTANY MURPHY`S FAKE BRITISH ACCENT


8 MILE star BRITTANY MURPHY has to surround herself with pals whenever she`s in London, to stop her from speaking in a fake British accent.
The American actress admits that whenever she crosses the Atlantic to spend time in the British capital, she can`t help but pick up the speech patterns of those around her.
She says, "I just came from London and I have this terrible habit of adapting to environments that I`m in. There have to be people on check around me to make sure I don`t start speaking like MADONNA when in England.
It became that way for a moment. It`s a little bit worrisome.
"But I (also) get this strange kind of Eastern European thing if I`m speaking to anyone from any other country. It`s so strange. I think that perhaps they`ll understand me better... it doesn`t work, obviously! I just co me across, consequentially, like an a*s."

PALTROW SET TO GIVE BIRTH IN LONDON


Hollywood star GWYNETH PALTROW has finally decided to give birth in London - despite warnings from celeb pal MADONNA about hospital conditions.
The SYLVIA actress who is six months pregnant with COLDPLAY singer CHRIS MARTIN`s child was warned off the British hospitals by the AMERICAN PIE singer after she claimed they were "too old and Victorian".
Yet now the couple are happy to have made plans to have their baby in Paltrow`s adopted home after installing a birth tank into their swanky London pad.
Paltrow wants to give birth at home - yet plans have been made to go to the exclusive $1,400 (GBP 740)-a-night ST JOHN AND ST ELIZABETH private London hospital if needed.
The hospital was recommended to her by her showbiz friends SADIE FROST and KATE MOSS, who have all recently given birth there.
The hospital which offers an alternative approach to giving birth, including being able to listen to whale music whilst floating in a birth pool, costs around $8,550 (GBP 4,500) to give birth in.

COSTNER MAKES UP WITH MADONNA


Hollywood actor KEVIN COSTNER has made up with pop queen MADONNA after
she humiliated him in her 1991 documentary IN BED WITH MADONNA (TRUTH
OR DARE).
The OPEN RANGE star, 49, was "initially hurt" when he saw Madonna`s furious
reaction to Costner telling her he enjoyed her "neat" show, when he visited the
superstar backstage.
But the showbiz feud came to an end when Costner decided to take his daughter along to one of Madonna`s concerts.
Costner explains, "A lot of people thought it was strange that I`d want to go to her concert. But my daughter LILY is a singer and I didn`t want to keep my kids from seeing Madonna because I had my feelings hurt, or I w
as semi-embarrassed or whatever.
"We were sitting in the audience and Madonna dedicated a song to me. I thought it was very classy."
The OSCAR-winner has never thanked the MATERIAL GIRL for her offering, but regards it as concluding their dispute.
He continues, "I`ve never talked to her about it or written her a thank you note. I thought it very brave on her part and I respected it.
"What was really cool was that my kids heard that dedication from Madonna. They knew we were going to see someone that in one moment in time, there was some difficulty between us. Madonna didn`t make a big deal about it
but it was a big deal to me and I appreciate it.
"I like her and I think she is an important person in our entertainment history. Maybe some day we will chat together."
