DEBBIE REYNOLDS TO TAKE MEMORABILIA TO DOLLYWOOD


LATEST: Veteran actress DEBBIE REYNOLDS has confirmed she will display her large collection of movie memorabilia in Tennessee, after failing to find it a home in Hollywood.
Reynolds` extensive collection includes over 4,000 costumes from the silent screen period to the 1970s and thousands of autographed movie posters.
In the `90s, she turned her collection into a Las Vegas movie museum, but shut it down in 1997 because of financial problems.
She then looked into the possibility of opening up a hall of fame museum in Hollywood, but has now decided to head south to open her museum in Pigeon Forge, neighbouring country singer DOLLY PARTON`s them park DOLLYWOOD.
Reynolds says, "I can`t seem to make it happen here in Hollywood, as hard as I`ve tried, and I`m finally going to have to give up and go where the people are. And the people are there."

British actress HELEN MIRREN has been voted Britain`s number one modern day sex goddess by readers of EROTIC REVIEW.
The 58-year-old screen veteran beat out the likes of DOLLY PARTON, model SOPHIE DAHL and celebrity cook NIGELLA LAWSON to clinch the honour - but Mirren admits she`s never heard of the publication.
On hearing about the honour during a TV interview in America yesterday morning (11DEC03), she enquired, "Who are they? I want to meet these people.

DISNEY SHUT DOWN NEW MOVIE


DISNEY bosses have shut down production on DOLLY PARTON`s new animated movie A FEW GOOD GHOSTS after a string of creative differences.
The film, which revolved around a group of ghosts inhabiting folk-art dolls, also featured the voice of Parton`s 9 TO 5 costar LILY TOMLIN.
A Disney representative says the studio has decided the project was not "universally appealing".

KEANU REEVES once wore DOLLY PARTON`s famous 1978 PLAYBOY bunny
outfit as a Halloween costume.
The actor`s mother, a costume designer, made the bunny outfit for the country
star, who then gave it back - leaving the way clear for Keanu.

PARTON AND HAYES TEAM UP FOR TENNESSEE TOURISM ADS


DOLLY PARTON and ISAAC HAYES will appear in a new series of commercials to boost tourism in their native Tennessee.
Parton, who built the DOLLYWOOD theme park near her mountain hometown of Sevierville, invites tourists to make Tennessee their stage for family fun, thrills, relaxation, celebration, discovery and romance.
She says in the ad, "Just remember Tennessee is great for more than music.
The stage is set for you, honey, come play on it."
Parton adds of her decision to back the campaign, "I`m doing this because I love Tennessee - I`m a Tennessee girl. I mean, there`s nothing we can`t do in Tennessee. The stage is set for everything."
Singer-songwriter Hayes, a Memphis native, filmed the second ad on Monday (05APR04) at the STAX MUSEUM OF AMERICAN SOUL MUSIC.

DOLLY PARTON will be honoured with a Living Legend award at the AMERICAN LIBRARY OF CONGRESS tonight (14APR04), in recognition of her services to country music.
The GRAMMY-winning star, 58, will join past recipients JOHNNY CASH and STEVEN SPIELBERG in receiving the prestigious award in Washington DC - to commemorate her extraordinary career.
The Tennessee-born superstar will also perform at the ceremony.
Parton - who has enjoyed a string of international hits including JOLENE and I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU - says, "My music is what took me everywhere I`ve been and everywhere I will go.
"It`s my greatest love.
"I can`t abandon it. I`ll always keep making records."

TRIUMPHANT KEITH PAYS TRIBUTE TO AMERICAN SOLDIERS


Patriotic star TOBY KEITH paid tribute to American soldiers occupying Iraq as he collected three awards at Wednesday`s (21APR04) COUNTRY MUSIC TELEVISION`s FLAMEWORTHY VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS show.
Keith dedicated his video of the year award for AMERICAN SOLDIER to the US forces in the Middle East - and delivered a harsh message to Anti-War campaigners.
He says, "This is a very important award for me because this is voted on by music lovers all over the place. I thank you all. Don`t forget our brothers and sisters overseas making it free for us tonight.
"It`s a really nasty thing going on over there right now. All the anti-war people are standing around saying `I told you so`, but there were a lot of reasons for them going over there and they had no choice."

JESSICA SIMPSON will duet with JEWEL and KENNY ROGERS on her first TV special in America next month (11APR04).
The pop star-turned-reality TV queen will also perform with husband NICK LACHEY when the first THE NICK & JESSICA VARIETY HOUR airs, and pals Lachey and KENNETH `BABYFACE` EDMONDS will cover STEVIE WONDER`s classic FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE.
Simpson`s duet with Rogers will be a cover of the country star`s ISLANDS IN THE STREAM smash hit, which he originally recorded with DOLLY PARTON.
The show will also feature comedy skits, including one with A-TEAM icon MR T and another with THE MUPPETS, with whom Simpson recently filmed a PIZZA HUT commercial.

DOLLY PARTON`S LIBRARY WINS AWARD


Country veteran DOLLY PARTON has been awarded the READING WORKS award in Nashville, Tennessee.
The 58-year-old busty blonde was recognised for her work on her IMAGINATION LIBRARY which aims to provide one book every month to children under the age of five in Nashville.
The award was presented yesterday (01MAR04) by Governor PHIL BREDESEN, who donated $2 million (GBP 1.05 million) in his budget for the programme which Parton hopes will sweep America.
During her acceptance speech she told of her family upbringing with her 11 siblings and father who was illiterate, saying, "He was more proud of children calling me `the book lady` than anything else I`ve done."

Country music legend DOLLY PARTON is an avid fan of cosmetic surgery and promises to keep getting "nipped, tucked and sucked".
The JOLENE singer, 58, has openly admitted her penchant for going under the knife and is determined she will undergo more plastic surgery as she ages.
Parton says, "I`ve had lots of work done. I`ll have some more done when I need it.
"I always said, `If I see something sagging, bagging and dragging, I`m going to nip it, tuck it, and suck it.` Whatever needs to be done. I mean, it`s like I look at myself like a show horse, or a show dog. I mean, I`m in the business. And, I like to look a certain way.
"I`ve always had nice boobs. I always had a nice body when I was little, but when I lost all that weight, I had them pumped up, and fixed up.
"They just stand up there like brave little soldiers now. They`re real big, they`re real expensive and they`re really mine now."

Biography
Dolly Rebecca Parton was born on January 19, 1946, one of 12 children of Robert Lee Parton, a tobacco farmer, and Avie Lee Parton (née Owens). Dolly grew up on a run-down farm in Locust Ridge, TN. At 12 she was appearing on Knoxville TV, and at 13 she was already recording on a small label and appearing at the Grand Ole Opry. After graduating from high school in Sevier County, Tennessee, in 1964, she moved to Nashville to launch her career as a country singer. She fell in love with Carl Dean, who ran an asphalt-paving business; they got married on May 30, 1966 (and they are still together). The next year, Dolly`s singing caught the attention of Porter Wagoner. He hired Dolly to appear on his program, "The Porter Wagoner Show." Dolly stayed with the show for 7 years, their duets became famous, and she appeared with his group at the Grand Ole Opry; she also toured and sold records. By the time her hit "Joshua" reached #1 in 1970, her fame had overshadowed Porter`s, and she struck out on her own, though still recording duets with him. She left him for good to become a solo artist in 1974. Dolly gained immense popularity as a singer/songwriter. Dolly won numerous Country Music Association awards (1968, 1970, 1971, 1975, 1976). This petite (5`0") beauty was a natural for television, and by the mid-1970s Dolly was appearing frequently on TV specials and talk shows. Dolly then got her own show, aptly titled "Dolly" (1976). In 1977 Dolly got her first Grammy award: Best Female Country Vocal Performance, for her song "Here You Come Again." Dolly`s movie debut was in Nine to Five (1980), where she got an Oscar nomination for writing the title tune, and also Grammy awards 2 and 3, Best Country Song, and Best Female Country Vocal Performance for "9 to 5." Dolly got more fame for appearing in Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, The (1982), and in Rhinestone (1984) with the song "Tennessee Homesick Blues." She is the head of Dolly Parton Enterprises, a $100 million media empire, and in 1986 she founded Dollywood, a theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, celebrating her Smokey Mountain upbringing. She appeared as Herself in "Dolly" (1987) TV series. In 1988 she won another Grammy award: Best Country Performance Duo or Group with Vocals, for "Trio." Dolly was in the acclaimed picture Steel Magnolias (1989) with Julia Roberts, and went on to appear in 15 movies and TV-movies for the 1990s, and of course garnered more Country Music Association awards. In 2000, Dolly received her 5th Grammy award: Best Country Collaboration with Vocals. She also released a Bluegrass Album. Dolly is known for beautiful songs such as "Coat of Many Colors" and "Jolene" and "I Will Always Love You."
