WILL & GRACE star DEBRA MESSING has called her baby son ROMAN WALKER ZELMAN - but a number of her pals are still unaware of the name.
The redhead beauty and her screenwriter husband DANIEL ZELMAN welcomed their first child into the world on 7 April (04), but failed to release the name of their offspring.
And as late on as 16 April (04), US WEEKLY reports many friends were still waiting to get the official word on the baby`s name because they wanted to go and buy appropriate gifts.
A pal complains, "We called, and Debra`s people said that they hadn`t given a baby a name yet.
"It`s kind of a problem for us at this point. We are all chipping in to buy stuff with the baby`s name, or even initials, on it, so we had to get something more generic."

MESSING`S A MUM:
WILL & GRACE star DEBRA MESSING is a mum.
The actress gave birth to a baby boy in Los Angeles this morning (08APR04).
The first-time mum, who was forced to sit out of the final tapings of the Will & Grace season for health reasons, is said to be doing fine.
Her baby weighed in at 2.33 kilograms (five pounds four ounces).

Heavily pregnant WILL & GRACE star DEBRA MESSING has been forced to pull out of filming the show`s season finale - as doctors have demanded she stays in bed until her baby is born.
The EMMY-winning actress, who is eagerly-awaiting the birth of her first child with screenwriter husband DANIEL ZELMAN, has denied there are any complications with her pregnancy and insists she`s "doing great".
However, her character GRACE ADLER will not be present at kooky pal KAREN WALKER`s Las Vegas wedding to LYLE FINSTER, played by legendary comic JOHN CLEESE. Notably, the nuptials will feature a cameo by singing sensation JENNIFER LOPEZ.

Singer and actor HARRY CONNICK JR is worried about filming the sixth season finale of WILL & GRACE today (24MAR04) - because he doesn`t want the sitcom`s fans to turn on him afterwards.
Fans of the show are fearing that his and DEBRA MESSING`s characters will divorce, and Connick Jr is happy with the split - as long as he isn`t shunned by the comedy series` devoted followers.
He says, "I`m excited because I don`t know what`s gonna happen yet. I don`t know what`s going on. If there is a divorce I just hope that she dumps me because can you imagine... people will start throwing things at me walking down the street.
"She`s loved and I don`t wanna be the guy to break her heart."

Actress DEBRA MESSING is working so hard to stay glamorous during the final stages of her pregnancy, she`s now seeking beauty tips from a QUEER EYE FOR THE STRAIGHT GUY star.
The redhead WILL & GRACE beauty is due to give birth to her first child this spring (04), but admits it`s hard work maintaining her stunning looks - so she`s asked CARSON KRESSLEY for advice.
In the latest edition of American magazine US WEEKLY, she asks Kressley how she can stay elegant, and is told, "Debra, you were just glorious at the GOLDEN GLOBES, so you really don`t need to do much.

Former SPICE GIRL GERI HALLIWELL is to appear in hit American comedy WILL & GRACE as a lesbian.
The LOOK AT ME hitmaker, will play a long-lost friend of interior designer GRACE ADLER, played by pregnant beauty DEBRA MESSING.
Grace`s best pal WILL TRUMAN (ERIC McCORMACK) will become jealous at the girls` friendship, until Halliwell`s character will reveal she is gay.
Halliwell recently had an unsuccessful audition for FRIENDS spin-off JOEY and had a brief appearance in SEX AND THE CITY.
According to pals of the ex-GINGER SPICE, Halliwell enthused, "One door closes and another opens. Now I just can`t wait to work on my favourite show."
A Will & Grace insider says, "A lot of actresses were up for this part, but Geri aced the audition."

MESSING ASSURES FANS WILL & GRACE WILL STAY:
WILL & GRACE star DEBRA MESSING has assured fans her sitcom will remain
on screens for quite some time, following the imminent end of hit shows
FRIENDS, FRASIER and SEX AND THE CITY.
The three long running comedies will end this year (04), and EVERYBODY
LOVES RAYMOND is expected to follow suit in near the future, leaving Messing`s
show as American network TV`s sole esteemed primetime sitcom.
But Messing assures she and her colleagues won`t be walking away from the
show anytime soon.
She says of the show`s end, "I haven`t thought about that - it`s so hard to
imagine that, really, we`ve all come to take for granted those TV shows that have
been around for so long.
"I think (our) show is doing wonderfully. This year has been fantastic creatively. It`s been pretty consistent - we`ve been asked this question as long ago as three years, and my feeling hasn`t changed - it`s as long as
we`re having fun, which we are, and as long as the stories are funny and feel fresh, then there`s no reason to stop. How long that will be, I can`t even guess.
"Time is a weird thing in television - I can`t believe that we`re already in our sixth year. The cast is really on the same page and we all feel the show is in a great position."

The redhead actress, who will give birth to her first child with her husband DANIEL ZELMAN in the spring (04), has watched her desires go from one extreme to the next in recent months.
She says, "I went through a big phase of craving healthy cereal with blueberries, and I started eating that three times a day.
"Then I switched to craving fast food and burgers. And now I`m into pizza."

WILL & GRACE star DEBRA MESSING has dismissed the idea of a happy pregnancy as "propaganda" created by men.
The redhead beauty, who`s due to give birth to her first child this spring (04), insists carrying a child is nowhere near as enjoyable as she`d hoped it would be.
She says, "I`m sleeping a lot. I guess I`m a little emotional; things are a little bit nutty.
"But the whole thing about pregnancy being the happiest time of your life and you feel so beautiful and it`s so wonderful... propaganda! It`s a lie - the whole thing. Liars! The women know.
"I think it`s all just a conspiracy to get us to do this because if they say that it`s hard and that it hurts and all of those things you wouldn`t do it. But they say, `Oh, it`s glorious.` I`m here to tell ya - just know what you`re getting yourself into!"

Biography
Debra Messing was born in Brooklyn, and raised in a quiet community just outside Providence, Rhode Island. Messing majored in theater arts at Brandeis University where she received her liberal arts education. Half of her junior years were spent in London`s prestigious B.E.S.G.L. program. Upon graduating from Brandeis, Debra Messing was accepted into New York University`s Elite Graduate Acting Program and received her Masters of fine arts degree three years later.
Messing`s talents were quickly noticed when she received praise for her performance in the pre-Broadway workshop of Tony Kushner`s award-winning play called Angels in America: Perestroika.Debra Messing also enjoyed success playing the role of Cecily in The Importance of Being Earnest. Messing also appeared in other productions such as, Four Dogs and a Bone., The Naked Truth and Collected Stories which was chosen as a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.
Debra`s career soon after moved on to television, where she starred for two seasons as Stacey in the comedy Ned & Stacey. She also had a rotating role on NYPD Blue, playing Dana - Gail O`Grady`s conniving sister. Debra Messing also starred as the young bioanthropologist Sloan Parker in the drama series Prey. Debra played in Seinfeld as the obscure girl Beth Lookner, and also starred in Jesus.
Messing was also hand picked by the director to co-star in Woody Allen`s Celebrity. Her other big screen films include Alfonso Arau`s love story A Walk in the Clouds, where she played the wife of Keanu Reeves.
Debra Messing currently plays the interior decorator Grace Adler in NBC`s popular sitcom Will & Grace, where she co-stars opposite Eric McCormack. The two play the role of best friends, where Grace is not a stable person and Will is the only person who understands her and helps her put things in perspective. They are the kind of best friends who know each other`s history and can finish each other`s sentences.
Debra Messing currently lives in Los Angeles. And as if acting was not a fulltime job, she also spends most of her free time supporting charities such as AmFAR, Gay Men`s Health Crisis, and Best Friend`s Pet Sanctuary.
